What is zine making?

Zines are a bit like a mini handmade magazine. They are self-published piece of collage, art or text and usually photocopied. There are no rules, you can pick any subject. Zines often cover unusual or unpopular opinions or subjects. Firstly, you fold and cut a piece of paper in a particular way (go to the bottom of the page to see how to do this) then pick a topic. A good first project is to do zine for each month including either thing you have done in that month or things that you have enjoyed. Or you could include things about that month like an animal's plants and other thing in the garden.

How to make a zine:

Lay a piece of A4 or A3 onto a flat surface and fold it length ways.

Unfold the paper and then fold it in half the other way.

Unfold the paper again and fold both sides into the middle to the shorter crease to make tow creases and unfold again.

You should now have a piece of paper with eight even rectangles.

Fold the paper in half again and cut through the crease to the next crease. Then fold it lengthways again.

Finally use the created to make it into a book let shape with eight pages.
